Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Satellite Technologies

Synopsis:

This presentation covers what differentiates Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technology from traditional GEO and MEO systems, who the main market competitors are and what they offer, and how LEO is being harnessed by broadcasters and Mobile Network Operators (MNOs).

Presenter:

Alexandre graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Victoria in 2020. His interest in telecommunications was first sparked during two internships at CBC/Radio-Canada in 2018. Following his graduation, Alexandre moved to Montreal in early 2020 to join the Spectrum team within the engineering group, which is responsible for the management, coordination, and innovation of spectrum at CBC/Radio-Canada. Over the past seven years, Alexandre has led projects in traditional broadcasting technologies such as FM and digital television. Recently, he has expanded his focus to advanced wireless solutions, notably Wi-Fi design/simulation, 5G production, as well as research into LEO satellite constellations for potential application in broadcasting.
