CAB Technical Committee Update

Synopsis:

CAB Technical Advisor, Kirk Nesbitt, will report on the activities of the Technical Coordinating Committee (TCC). This year’s update will include insights about what is happening with Emergency Alerting, Safety Code 6 compliance, Tower Siting Policy, Nextgen TV, HD Radio, and more. The TCC is actively involved in the regulatory work of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED), the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), the Radio Advisory Board of Canada (RABC), and the Alerting Technical Working Group (ATWG). As well, the TCC contributes to the standards development initiatives of the National Radio Systems Committee (NRSC) and the North American Broadcasters Association Radio Committee (NABA-RC).

Kirk Nesbitt is the Technical Advisor to the Canadian Association of Broadcasters. The CAB is the national voice of Canada’s private broadcasters, representing the vast majority of Canadian programming services, including private radio and television stations, networks, specialty, pay and pay-per-view services. Kirk is a professional engineer providing services to broadcasters, system integrators and equipment suppliers. He is the Broadcasting Committee Chair of the Radio Advisory Board of Canada, member of the Ontario Emergency Alerting Steering Committee and a member of the Humber College Broadcast-Broadband Convergence Lab Advisory Committee.
