SMPTE ST 2110 is now the default norm for building out new medium to large Broadcast infrastructures. This paper will describe the practical methodologies in the design and implementation of 2110 infrastructures referencing real world examples in operation in Canada. We will compare the differences in deploying basic IGMP versus the increasing use of full SDN architectures, network design and the significance of compressed formats such as those contained in the developing IPMX format.
