Sébastien Testeau

Sébastien is a seasoned media technology architect with almost 20 years of expertise, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Software Engineering and a Master’s in Artificial Intelligence. Combined with his architectural, development, and leadership skills, these allow him to deliver innovative solutions.

At CBC/Radio-Canada, Sébastien is leading the adoption of c2pa. He also leverages AI to improve content discoverability and understanding with large language models.

Before that, Sébastien was an architect in research and development for 15 years at The National Film Board of Canada where he tackled critical projects in media archiving, video encoding and streaming, video understanding, search and computer vision.

Kirk Nesbitt

Kirk Nesbitt

Kirk is the Technical Advisor to the Canadian Association of Broadcasters.

The Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) is the national voice of Canada’s private broadcasters, representing the vast majority of Canadian programming services, including private radio and television stations, networks, specialty, pay and pay-per-view services.

Kirk is a professional engineer providing services to broadcasters, system integrators and equipment suppliers.

He is the Broadcasting Committee Chair of the Radio Advisory Board of Canada and a member of the Humber College Broadcast-Broadband Convergence Lab Advisory Committee.

Vladimir Anishchenko

Vladimir Anishchenko is the President & CTO of Avateq Corp.

Vlad has a PhD. In Instrumentation and Signal Processing.

With more than 30 years of extensive engineering experience in R&D and designing of Digital Signal Processing systems for a wide variety of applications; led the development of a number of systems: terrestrial repeaters, digital modulators for satellite, TV and radio, proprietary communication and broadcast solutions; signal analyzers and receivers for all major digital standards.

Orest Sushko

Orest Sushko serves as Director of the Broadcast-Broadband Convergence B²C Lab at Humber College. He is a graduate of both McMaster and Toronto Metropolitan Universities, and a Fulbright Specialist with over 30 years of audio engineering experience in music, broadcast, film post-production and systems design. He served as a lead re-recording film mixer with Todd AO Studios in Los Angeles and has received an Emmy award, two Emmy nominations, a Cinema Audio Society award, and numerous international recognitions.

Orest’s interest in applied research has focused on emerging audio technologies, design, and functionality including mobile SDK applications and developing audio watermark technologies. Ahead of joining Humber College in 2019, Orest has undertaken research and development opportunities with ATSC 3.0 in Canada and brought the vision of the B²C Lab to Humber College.

Mark Corl

Mark Corl is the SVP of Emergent Technology Development at Triveni Digital. His team focuses on strategies to address the disruptive changes in TV technology caused by the continuing exponential advances in computing and networking primarily leveraging the new capabilities offered by ATSC 3.0. Their recent focus has been directed toward data distribution innovation supporting educational datacasting and the emerging Broadcast Positioning System technology. Mark has also been providing education and consulting for many organizations interested in adopting the new ATSC 3.0 broadcast standard.

Mark is a recent ATSC board member and contributes extensively to the ATSC efforts as the chair of the S38 Specialist Group on Interactive Environment, the chair of the Caribbean Implementation Team and the chair of the India Implementation Team currently in hiatus. Mark is also a contributor to many of the documents comprising the overall ATSC 3.0 standard.

During his 27-year tenure at Triveni Digital, Mark has led both product development efforts as well as custom projects. Prior to Triveni Digital, Mark was a software engineer and system architect for Xerox Corporation and had a software engineering position at Texas Instruments. Mark holds a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Bucknell University.

Rob Poretti

For over 30 years, Rob Poretti has provided wireless solutions for live events and venues in Canada and around the world. Rob was an RF expert for Sennheiser Canada for 8-years, providing engineering, design and specification support for their partners. Rob specializes in designing large, complex RF systems for broadcasters and large events, where requirements for multi-zone combining, facility-wide frequency coordination and systems integration are the norm.

Rob managed the Sennheiser service shop at the Vancouver 2014 Winter Olympics, where a team of RF experts provided technical support for IOC host broadcast partners during that timeframe. He has also consulted with Industry Canada regarding the 700 MHz digital transition, and the 2020 600MHz repack. He has developed various tools to determine Canadian DTV environments for all major cities, as well as most countries around the world.

Rob was also on the software development team as architect, for the Professional Setup component of Wireless Systems Manager (WSM). WSM is Sennheiser’s software tool for managing wireless devices and frequency coordination. Rob was a consulting engineer with Rogers Sports and Media to provide the 600 MHz strategy across Canada.

Rob is the wireless expert at AVL Media Group who is the Canadian distributor of Wisycom, providing premium RF systems for many major broadcasters around the world.

Don Hill

His foray into hypermedia art begins with STORY TREES, a sonic responsive architecture installation & interactive online exhibition. The most recent edition CONSTRUCTION uses AI (artificial intelligence) tools to create content & code the installation exhibit. Don’s prior investigation of psychoacoustics of ‘place’ inspired his location-based media app Edmonton Soundwalks, a spatial audio guide for mobile phones. SPECIAL PLACES: Writing-On-Stone is a 360 video presentation that scales from full-dome screens to VR (virtual reality) headsets. In residency with the UK’s renowned Blast Theory​ he made WRGO (what’s really going on), a surreal 3D audio narrative. As musical director, soundscape artist & video post-production Don worked on theatrical productions staged at the Edinburgh Fringe that have been remounted Off-West End in London UK; as well, he’s scored & post-produced new on-line theatre and first readings of plays for international streaming platforms.

Lindsay Sylvester

Lindsay is the Director of Marketing Operations at Amii, a world-leading AI institute
focused on advancing AI through research and commercialization.

Her team demonstrates how AI can solve complex business and societal challenges through
content and storytelling.

Lindsay and her team also use AI tools in their work for content creation, audience engagement, strategy development, and performance insights.

Sam Schauland

With Lawo since 2015, Sam Schauland is the company’s Executive Vice President for North America.

Sam has been instrumental in establishing, and growing, Lawo’s presence in North America through building a support infrastructure and leading key operations and sales delivery initiatives.

He has held several technical management, engineering, and leadership roles throughout his career and holds several advanced engineering degrees.

Lubos Kuzma

With over 19 years of experience in the broadcast and audiovisual industries, I have developed a deep understanding of complex systems and a strong commitment to technical excellence. My career began at CBC Transmission Services in Saskatoon, where I gained valuable hands-on experience.

In 2013, I transitioned to Calgary, focusing on troubleshooting, designing, and project managing large-scale A/V systems, including Edmonton’s Rogers Place. In 2018, I embarked on a new chapter at SAIT, teaching broadcast video and IP-based distribution.

Since the closure of the broadcast program, I have dedicated my time to cybersecurity, specializing in the security of Internet of Things, Critical Infrastructure, and hardware/firmware-related systems.

In 2023, I established my education-centric consulting business. However, in the summer of 2024, I made the strategic decision to concentrate solely on helping organizations mitigate cybersecurity risks and prepare for potential cyber attacks.

I am passionate about leveraging my expertise to protect businesses from emerging cyber threats and ensure their continued operations.

Matt Jefferson

Matt Jefferson has over 30 years of experience in working with software developers and computer hardware companies to build ecosystems in video, computer graphics and networking. 

He currently leads developer relations and third party hardware relationships at Blackmagic Design, the world’s leading innovator and manufacturer of creative video technology.

Matt lead successful engagements with NBC News, Reuters, and BBC News using the popular Decklink products in broadcast systems while at Blackmagic Design.

Andrew Snook

Andrew Snook has been the Director of Digital for Pattison Media since 2017. Andrew is responsible for the strategy of Pattison’s online media properties, which include local news, radio apps, and streaming audio. Prior to joining Pattison in 2017, he was Vice President of Streaming Systems for Futuri Media and, before that, co-founder and CTO of StreamOn.
