Strategic Plan Overview
At WABE 2022 AGM, a motion was put forward to develop a five-year strategic plan for WABE. This initiative was driven by our recognition that while WABE has always been a cherished community of dedicated volunteers, members, and friends, we need to adapt to a changing industry landscape and an aging membership.
Our goal is to ensure WABE continues to thrive and meet the needs of our community. Over the years, we have gathered many great ideas about updating our convention, inviting new groups, and exploring potential changes in our role and identity. However, these ideas often remained unimplemented.
A strategic plan provides a clear direction for our organization, sets realistic objectives, and fosters collaboration and collective responsibility. It involves three key steps: planning, action, and evaluation.
To develop this plan, we conducted a SWOT survey to identify our Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats, engaging with our members and partners who have supported WABE through volunteering, sponsorship, and attendance. We partnered with Alberta Community Development’s professional not-for-profit facilitation services, led by Daniela Galindo, who guided us through a series of meetings to shape the survey results into a cohesive plan.
With contributions from WABE Chancellor Mark Crition, Chi Chi Lui from Burli, and our executive team, we have crafted a strategic plan for the first year. This plan is not set in stone; it is designed to be flexible and can be adjusted as needed.
We are excited to share a snapshot of this plan and look forward to its implementation and further development in the coming years.
