Summer 2021 Presidents Message

Hello WABE friends!

I hope this summer newsletter finds you well and that you’ve been able to travel a bit and escape the constraints of the COVID pandemic. Soon our focus will be on a busy fall. Teams will be returning, and we may find a fourth wave of COVID as concerns continue to ramp up on the variants.

At WABE, we are about to get extremely busy with our fall 2021 annual convention. Our 71st WABE convention will be held on November 3rd and 4th.

WABE will once again be teaming up with Scarritt Group to bring you our 2021 virtual convention. We were able to work with Scarritt to bring back the instance. It is a platform that we are all familiar with and will not have to relearn. What we will be able to do is provide a better convention experience and provide a “how to” guide to get the best of that experience. The executive has also learned about some additional features to bring more networking opportunities. This includes exhibitors having a notification when someone on the instance is in their booth.

We have some great educational papers lined up. From Howard on the TV side… David Vargas, Senior Research Engineer at BBC, will speak on 5G technologies for media distribution and Steven Holmes, a Solutions Architect, Advisor and Consultant will talk about monitoring hybrid SDI in the ST2110 uncompressed domain. Mitch on the radio side has lined up Kirk Harnack to speak on Virtualization and Chris Lapp from Cisco will speak on programming. We will also be bringing sessions on some highly requested topics, such as AM troubleshooting, Emergency Planning and Project Management.

On June 1st, WABE started reaching out for sponsorship opportunities. Past President Clint Hollinger has been leading the charge of the WABE Sponsorship drive. WABE is at a critical juncture. Unfortunately, we could not organize an “in person” convention for numerous reasons. We believe that WABE still needed to provide an annual forum to bring the industry together. It is our hope that you will continue to support our mission and join us as a sponsor and exhibitor this November. This year is a very critical year, and your support is more important than ever. We would like to be in a good position to bring back the in-person convention.

Very soon, we will provide the latest updates on papers and then we will open exhibitor and delegate registration.

Please follow social media, keep an eye out in the inbox and check the website as we get ready to learn, virtually network and keep woofers woofing, the tweeters tweeting and the pictures pixel free through the remainder of 2021.

Sincerely,

Rob Brown
WABE President
