WABE Newsletter September 2023

WABE is making lemonade!

This past month we learned that the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel has no timeline to end their labor dispute before our Nov 27th-29th Conference in Vancouver.

The WABE committee has had to think on their feet, adapt and take this lemon and move this year’s conference to a new location in Vancouver.

WABE continues outreach in the Vancouver market and feels this experience will bring about new conversation, new ideas and introduces the organization to new friends.

Here is what the new mixture entails:

  • We have transplanted the entire conference to the The Shipyards District. This is one of Vancouvers oldest and fastest growing urban neighborhoods, it is rich with shipbuilding history and bursting with life.
  • Our Hotel partner is The Pinnacle at the Pier. This will be our meeting place for the Monday Media Mixer, conference breakfasts, educational sessions, SBE exams and our awards lunch.
  • The Pipe Shop Venue a historic, open and spacious room will hold our open-to-the-public

FREE Media and Entertainment Technology Exhibit Hall

Nov 28th 1-5pm & Nov 29th 9am – 12pm

This change has allowed us to keep the conference dates the same Nov 27-29th so no need to change flights if you’re traveling from afar.

The hotel room rates are similar although rooms are more limited and in the coming days we are working on neighboring hotels for overflow see our Hotel & Travel Discount section of our website for further details. No need to contact the Sheraton to cancel your reservation, we will do this for you.

If you are one of our valued Sponsors or exhibiting vendors, we will be having an info session Sept 7th, 1PM MT and for those that miss the meeting I will be reaching out directly.

We have an almost full program schedule that we will release Sept 15th and Early Bird registration is open till Halloween. Register to take in the full conference experience or come take in the papers for the day!

WABE also is encouraging submissions to our awards to recognize and celebrate exceptional achievements and contributions in media and entertainment technology in Canada. The WABE AWARDS celebrate those who motivate and inspire others to strive for excellence and continuous improvement. WABE is proud to celebrate members who attend the conferences by highlighting best practices and innovative approaches as well as promoting the growth and development of the industry.

I can’t wait to sip a taste of this new venue for WABE with all of you in Vancouver this fall!

All My Best Regards,
